1910 Irkutsk. Siberia. Kazan Cathedral.

In January 1932, the Monument Protection Department signed a verdict on the cathedral, rejecting the proposal to turn it into a museum, and agreeing to demolish it as a building of no historical or artistic value.

An attempt to disassemble the cathedral into building material was unsuccessful, and it was decided to blow it up. The first demolition event took place in August 1932. It took several explosions to finally bring it down.
